Dublin City Choral Union present a concert of music by Mozart with orchestra led by David O’Doherty and conducted by Duncan Brickenden with a choir of 120 singers on Sunday January 25th.
Included in the programme is Missa in Honerem Sanctissimae Trinitas (Trinity Mass) and Miserericordias Domini.
Mozart’s Trinity Mass was composed in Salzburg when Mozart was only 17 years old. Displaying his musical maturity through magnificent ceremonial melodies and rich harmonies, this rarely performed mass contrasts to the hauntingly beautiful Miserericordias Domini. Conposed a year after the Trinity mass in 1775, this work shows us Mozart’s command not only in his application of beautiful melody to sacred text but his genius skill with counterpoint.
Other well known works by Mozart will be included in the programme… you’ll have to wait and see!
Duration 75 mins (no interval) and family friendly
