High School Musical on Stage! follows the relationship of Troy, a high school basketball captain, and Gabriella, a new transfer student, as they fall for each other while singing together during a vacation. Back at school, their budding romance and desire to audition for the school musical are met with opposition from cliques and the drama queen Sharpay. Their decision to audition together breaks down barriers, encouraging other students to defy their cliques and embrace new passions.
